During an interview with Audacy’s Katie Neal, emerging country star Tucker Wetmore discussed how a football injury he experienced eventually led him to pursue a career in country music. “I was in Montana, I played a year of football there,” Wetmore recalled. “But it just didn’t feel right for a couple months towards the end.” He came home from practice one day and had an emotional breakdown. “I was just like, I need a sign,” he shared. “The next day, I went to practice and snap my leg in three places.” While recovering from the injury, Wetmore’s mother suggested he return to the piano, which brought him comfort when he was younger. He would go on to write his very first song that night, and eventually move to Nashville to pursue his dream. “Five months later, I was like, ‘Mom, I want to do this, I believe I can do this.’ And then she was like, ‘I never doubted you for a second, go do it,’” he said.
