Arrests made in Rooster robbery

Several arrests have been made and most of the guns stolen in the Rooster sporting goods burglary have been recovered, according to a release from the Rapid City Police Department. Two men, 28-year-old Zephaniah Thompson of Fairburn, and 30-year-old Mathew Keifer of Rapid City, were arrested after reportedly trying to sell some of the 24 handguns stolen from the Rooster Aug. 22. The day after the burglary, police stopped a pickup leaving a home in the 100 block of East Signal Drive, arresting Thompson. He and Keifer were reportedly living at the home. Thompson was arrested for aiding in the burglary, commission of a felony with a firearm, and 24 counts of receiving stolen property. Also in the pickup was 33-year-old Hank Dubray of Rapid City. Police say Dubray was arrested for having a firearm with an altered serial number and commission of a felony with a firearm. Police do not believe Dubray was involved in the burglary. Police believe Keifer was responsible for the burglary and that Thompson drove him to and from the Rooster. When police searched the home they found most of the stolen guns. Sunday, police got a tip that another person who may have been involved in the burglary was at a home on Green Valley Drive in Rapid City. That is where they arrested 31-year-old Travis Jones. He was arrested for a bond revocation. In questioning him about the burglary, police were able to find two more of the stolen guns.
