Miranda Lambert and Chris Stapleton recently teamed up on the ’70s-inspired country track, “A Song to Sing,” which was released to radio by Big Loud in July. The collaboration echoes the feel of Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers chart-topping 1983 classic, “Islands in the Stream,” with Stapleton admitting, “There was certainly some mention of Dolly and Kenny vibes. It had that vibe out of the gate.” While Lambert adds, “It’s, like, all the stuff that I’ve always loved. I’ve just never explored it as an artist.” The song originated from fiddler Jenee Fleenor’s musical beds, co-written with songwriter Jesse Frasure during a Nashville session where Stapleton joined in on short notice, with the two singers quickly turning the musical sketches into a full song. Recorded in 2024 at the Georgia Mae Studio in Savannah with producer Dave Cobb and Stapleton’s band, and later mixed by Electric Lady Studios’ engineer Tom Elmhirst, the track has already resonated with fans, reaching No. 33 on the Country Airplay chart.
