A driver was killed and a passenger seriously injured in a crash on Interstate 90 five miles west of Piedmont Tuesday afternoon. The South Dakota Highway Patrol says the 39-year-old driver was speeding when he lost control of his pickup in a construction zone. The pickup hit several construction cones before going into the median and rolling several times. The driver, who was ejected from the pickup, died at the scene. The 39-year-old passenger was taken to Regional Hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries. Their names are being withheld pending notification of family.
