A pit bull was shot and killed by a Rapid City police officer when it attacked a police K-9 Sunday night. The pit bull attack happened when police were tracking a suspect on the 500 block of Saint Cloud Street following a pursuit. According to a police report, the officer/K-9 team was in the area of Sixth and Saint Cloud Streets when the pit bull escaped from a nearby yard and attacked. The police K-9 was taken to a veterinarian to be treated for injuries. The pit bull later died. The suspect police were looking for was not found.
