National High School Finals Rodeo-Thursday Recap

After Thursday’s performances at the National High School Finals Wyoming holds 6th place in the overall team standings while South Dakota is 11th. Wyoming’s boys are 5th while South Dakota has moved to 20th and in the Girls Standings, South Dakota is 3rd while Wyoming is 11th. In yesterday’s action, Sydney Maher of Timber Lake was 4th in Barrel Racing, Jackson Grimes of Kadoka tied for 10th in Boys Cutting while Kailyn Groves of Faith tied for 5th for the girls. Mikenzy Miller of Faith earned 8th in Breakaway Roping. In Goat Tying, Molly Rotenberger of Buffalo had another strong performance with a 3rd place finish. In Pole Bending, Shay Hough and Sage Kohr both of Gillette finished 3rd and 8th respectively. Trey Elshere of Quinn was 2nd in the days final Saddle Bronc performance. Steer Wrestling saw Alzada’s Tanner McInerney and Alex Bergeson of Mitchell both earn 4th place finishes.

Checking the average numbers heading into the final weekend, Bergeson is currently 7th in the Steer Wretling average. Shayla Howell of Belle Fourche is 7th in Barrel Racing, Molly Rotenberger holds the 9th spot in goat tying, Shay Hough leads in Pole Bending, and Natalie Leisinger of Highmore holds the 5th spot in Reined Cow Horse. The finals run through Sunday in Rock Springs.
