Victims identified in Tilford Fire

Authorities have identified the 2 victims of a structure fire Friday afternoon in Tilford, located 20 miles north of Rapid City. According to Rapid City Fire Department Public Information Officer Lt. Jim Bussell,  a propane tank at the scene suffered a “catastrophic failure” and ruptured causing an explosion. Sturgis Fire Department Assistant Chief, David Fischer died as a result of the explosion. Early Saturday, authorities located the remains of 82 year old Raymond Bachmeier who lived at the residence.

Fire crews were dispatched to the scene around 4 pm Friday and the flames had spread to some outbuildings upon arrival. Fischer, 43 years old was a 22 year veteran of the Sturgis Fire Department.
