Firefighters have gained the upper hand on the Vinyard Fire burning near Hot Springs. Calmer winds and cooler temperatures helped crews reach 40 percent containment of the blaze that burned about 560 acres. The fire caused the evacuation of more than 300 residents for a short time over the weekend. The Type II Management team that was summoned to the scene pulled out Monday morning and officials hope to have the blaze fully contained by Friday.
